Golden Lori Rice Formula

Vetafarm Improves Lorikeet Nutrition

Loris and Lorikeets require specialist nutrition to get the best in breeding performance and feather colour. GOLDEN LORI RICE FORMULA is now available and joins the high quality range of bird feeds produced by Vetafarm in its Wagga Wagga facility.

Lorikeets have undergone a resurgence in popularity with a host of exotic species and numerous colour variants now in aviaries. If you keep and breed Loris or Lorikeets you require a Lorikeet food that brings out their best and adds to their value.

Golden Lori Rice Formula, as the name suggests, is based on wholesome rice from the Riverina. Vetafarm have taken this world standard grain and added and balanced amino acids (protein), fatty acids (fats and oils), carbohydrates (sugars and starches), vitamins and minerals to create the best Lorikeet mix available.

Extrusion cooking in the Vetafarm plant releases the full goodness of the grains, ensuring your birds get the best nutrition available. Extrusion cooking also has the benefit of sterilising the product, making it the safest form of Lorikeet food available.

Because it is cooked and has a small particle size, Golden Lori Rice Formula can be fed as a dry or wet mix. Making a wet mix is easy. By using the same formula you do not create an imbalance by offering substandard nutrition in the wet mix (many wet mixes are nothing more than sugar and flour!).

Birdkeepers are prone to whims when it comes to feeding their birds. They like to add “a little something extra” to the bird’s diet. Golden Lori Rice Formula allows you to add “extras” without severely affecting the basic nutrition. If you wish to feed fruits, vegetables, flowering plants or whole grains, then Golden Lori Rice Formula should make up about 80 % of the diet. Following this ratio gives your birds the best of nutrition while enhancing their lives with variety.

Lorikeets require a diet that is low in fat, moderate but balanced in protein and with available carbohydrates. A fat Lorikeet is not a healthy bird. Many Lorikeets are fed unbalanced formulas (homemade mixes) and develop layers of external and internal fat leading to poor breeding performance. Unbalanced Lorikeet diets will also make these birds lose the spectacular colouring that Loris are renowned for. The feather colour and structure is greatly influenced by the ingredients in the diet, Golden Lori Rice Formula recognises this by the addition of ingredients known to improve feather formation and colour.

Vetafarm care about the nutrition of your birds and goes to extreme lengths to ensure all ingredients are first class, only fresh whole grains are used. It is this dedication to sourcing the best ingredients and the ability to incorporate the latest scientific information into the formulations that make Vetafarm feeds ideal for your birds.
