Mixing Wormout Gel for infeed administration

In feed administration of Wormout Gel is only useful when you are feeding a soft feed or wet mix, it is not suitable for addition to the seed.

To dose in feed you need to know how heavy the birds are and how much soft feed they eat in a day.

The dose rate is 0.5mL per Kg of bird body weight once daily, however in reality we need to work with approximations!

Step1 – what is the weight of bird in the cage? For example, if there is a pair of Rainbow Lorikeets in an aviary the total weight of bird in the cage is approximately 250 grams (2x 125g).

Step 2 – how much Wormout Out Gel do I use? The total amount of Wormout Gel to use is 0.125 mL ( ¼ of 0.5mL) - difficult to measure so round it up to 0.15 mL.

Step 3 – how much feed do I mix it with? You need to measure how much soft feed/wet mix the birds will eat in a day. The feed must be completely consumed in the day. You may need to do a little trial to work this out. For example a pair of Lorikeets may eat 25 grams of wet mix a day.

Step 4 – now simply mix the calculated amount of Wormout Gel into the wet feed – make sure it is very well mixed as it is a small amount. It is best to dissolve the Gel in a little water first to aid a thorough mix.

Now simply put the mix out into the aviary.

This process needs to be done for each aviary as the bird weight per aviary will change.
