Meet Rex, Vetafarm’s resident Blue Tongue Lizard. Blue Tongues are an increasingly popular pet and this is no surprise when you look at the enjoyment you get out of them compared to the work you have to put in.

Blue Tongues are ground dwelling skinks, and are renowned for their quiet nature, but occasionally they can have serious attitude – Rex is no exception to this rule!

Blue Tongues love to eat. Anything they can get their mouths around is a potential meal! This includes insects, meat scraps, vegetables or any other unfortunate soul that might stray into their path. Blue Tongues can also be very aggressive towards other species of reptile, particularly if they are smaller and space is restricted.

Blue Tongues require a large enclosure, with adequate UV lighting, heat sources, fresh water and of course a balanced diet. You also require a license to keep Blue Tongues in the majority of Australian states, so be sure to research legal requirements before purchase.

Recommended Diet: Herpavet Lizard Food, Vegetables, Fruit, Insects.
